The magical Harry Potter series has engaged millions of children and young adults and transformed them into enthusiastic readers. In fact, according to The Scholastic Kids and Family Reading Report, “51% of children between the ages of 5 and 17 years old say they did not read books for fun before reading the Harry Potter series.” As Open Books is dedicated to fostering a love of reading and writing through its literacy programs and award-winning bookstore, we will be celebrating the work of J.K. Rowling, an author who has truly inspired a generation of book-lovers. Relive the magic of Harry Potter and celebrate the publication of Rowlings’ first Muggle novel with one last midnight release!  The evening will be full of Harry Potter nostalgia, including trivia, wizard readings, refreshments, contests, and more. When the clock strikes midnight, all attendees will have the opportunity to be the first to experience a new era of J.K. Rowling’s writing when The Casual Vacancy officially goes on sale!
